Kanpur: A 60-year-old man was arrested for alleged attempt to rape an 8-year-old girl in Kanpur. On hearing the girl’s screams, locals rushed to the site. They caught the accused and assaulted him before informing the police through Dial 112. Police arrived at the site and took the accused into custody. The girl’s father said, ” On Sunday evening, we were at home and our daughter was playing outside the house. The acused, who lives in neighbourhood, lured the girl to his house on the pretext of giving her chocolate and attempted to rape her.”Kalyanpur police station in-charge Sumedh Jadhav said, “An FIR has been registered under Pocso and other serious sections based on the complaint of the girl’s family. The accused was sent to jail on Monday. The incident has been captured on CCTV.” tnn
