Chennai: Police arrested a 29-year-old man, Aleem Joshua alias Seeman, on Wednesday for supplying narcotic tablets and seized 700 tablets from him. The man was an associate of a history-sheeter, Shankar Bhai, who was earlier arrested at Ayanavaram.Acting on a tip off, police had arrested Shankar Bhai, 29, of East Ayanavaram. A total of 100 narcotic painkiller tablets and 1.5kg of ganja were recovered from him. Police said Shankar had 15 criminal cases, including a murder case, pending against him.Further questioning revealed that Shankar was working with Seeman, of Sivalingam Street, Ayanavaram. After learning of Shankar’s arrest, Seeman went into hiding. However, a special police team traced him to Ponnur village near Vandavasi and arrested him on Wednesday night. Police seized 700 narcotic tablets from him and brought him to Chennai for further interrogation.During the inquiry, investigators found that Seeman was procuring the tablets from Mumbai using money provided by Shankar. Police said he purchased each tablet for ₹100-150 and sold them in Chennai for ₹300-350.
