Chennai: A 47-year-old man was arrested for beating his younger brother to death during a family dispute at a Urban Habitat Development Board housing colony in Ambattur on Sunday night.The deceased was identified as Velankanni alias Vela, 40, a daily wage labourer residing at the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board colony in Ambattur. Police said Vela went to the house of his elder brother, Yesudas, 47, who lived in the same locality, under the influence of alcohol.Police said Vela picked up an argument with his mother, Mahalakshmi, who was staying at Yesudas’s house. Hearing the commotion, Yesudas came out and demanded his younger brother leave his house. Yesudas then struck Vela with a stick and pushed to the ground, leading him to hit against the floor and lose consciousness. When he was taken to the Govt Hospital in Avadi, doctors declared him brought dead.
