Ahmedabad: A major fire broke out at a chemical manufacturing unit in Phase II of Vatva GIDC in the early hours of Sunday, prompting a massive firefighting operation involving 22 fire tenders. Fire officials brought the blaze under control after nearly four hours, and no casualties were reported.The fire was reported around 1.30am at Arpan Aromatics, chief fire officer Amit Dongre said. According to the fire brigade, the blaze spread rapidly as the factory stored oil and other chemicals, engulfing the entire premises within a short time.Firefighters initially rushed to the spot with multiple vehicles, but additional fire tenders were pressed into service after assessing the intensity of the blaze.Fire personnel used large quantities of water and firefighting foam to prevent the flames from spreading to neighbouring industrial units. The operation continued through the night, with the fire being completely brought under control around 5.30am.Officials said no workers were trapped inside the factory and there was no loss of life or injuries in the incident.The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
