Ranchi: Mahagathbandhan partners RJD, CPI(ML), and CPI on Sunday announced they they would march to the Lok Bhavan on August 22 and submit a memorandum addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her to reject the Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill, 2026.Claiming that the Bill would hurt Jharkhand’s revenue and development, the parties warned that protests would be taken “from the streets to the Parliament” if the Union govt did not withdraw the bill.CPI(ML) leader Shubhendu Sen called the bill “a direct attack on Jharkhand” and alleged that the Union govt wanted to destabilise the stategovt. He said the legislation would be resisted across the state and that a plan for a “straight fight” with the Centre would be prepared.Referring to the President’s earlier remarks that visiting Jharkhand was like a pilgrimage for her, Sen said the same land was now being destroyed.Accusing BJP MPs from the state of remaining silent when the bill was passed in the House, CPI district secretary Ajay Singh said, “Economic blockade and other measures would be taken to force the Union govt to withdraw the bill. People of the state would not accept its implementation.”RJD state youth wing president Ranjan Yadav said, “The bill would obstruct Jharkhand’s development and the fight against it would be waged both in the state and in Delhi.”On the absence of Congress and JMM representatives, the leaders said they would participate in theAug 22 programme.
