VARANASI: The third night of the six-day music concert organised at the Sankat Mochan temple premises saw a gathering of the country’s renowned music maestros and young artists on Wednesday. Senior artists taught through their performances, while young artists understood and learned the depth of the presentations.The first offering of the third night blossomed in the form of vocal performance by Pt Ulhas Kashalkar from Pune. He commenced his presentation with Raag Bhupali, performing a vilambit composition in Taal Tilwada and a drut and tarana in Teen Taal, bringing the first chapter to a pause. In the second segment, he sang two compositions in Raag Sahana set in Jhaptaal and Ek Taal before concluding his vocal performance. He was accompanied by Pt Suresh Talwalkar on tabla, Vinay Mishra on sanvadini, and Ojash Pratap Singh, who participated equally in vocal support.In the next presentation, Vivek Sonar, who arrived from Mumbai, presented a flute recital. He began with alaapachari in Raag Jog, followed by a vilambit composition in Mattataal and two compositions in Teen Taal, before concluding with a bhajan. He was accompanied on tabla by Pt Shubh Maharaj.In the 3rd presentation, renowned playback singer Jaspinder Narula, who arrived from Mumbai, gave her vocal performances. She began with a Ram bhajan, followed by a Hanuman bhajan and several other bhajans, before concluding with a Krishna bhajan. She was accompanied by Ankit Sharma and Kriti Singh on vocal support, Gurvinder Bhola on tabla, Sanjay Sharma on pad, Vinay Prasanna on bansuri, and Satnarayan on keyboard.In the next presentation, renowned singer Kaushiki Chakravorty from Kolkata, delighted the audience with her singing. She first concluded the opening chapter with Jhumra in Raag Abhogi, then sang several popular thumris before bringing her presentation to a close. She was accompanied by Archik Banerjee on tabla, Ustad Murad Ali Khan on sarangi, and Jyotirmay Banerjee on sanvadini.In the 5th presentation, renowned guitar player Pt Devashish Bhattacharya from Kolkata mesmerised the audience with his enchanting guitar recital. He presented Raag Hanuman Kanhada at the Hanuman Darbar. After alaapachari, he performed gatkari in Jhaptaal, Ek Taal, and Tritaal, bringing the first chapter to a pause. He concluded his recital with a thumri in Pilu. Suryadeept Bhattacharya matched his steps on guitar. Pt Sanju Sahay accompanied him on tabla.In the 6th presentation, Pt Mahesh Kale from Mumbai, adorned the stage with his melodious presentation. He first commenced his singing with Raag Rageshri. He embellished his performance with compositions set in Taal Jhumra, Jhaptaal and Teen Taal. Continuing in this sequence, after a composition in Raag Param Sohini, he concluded his singing with the bhajan “He Surano Chandra Ha”. He was accompanied by Vaibhav Khandolkar on tabla, Omkar Dalvi on pakhawaj, Abhay Bichhu on sanvadini, Apoorva Gokhale on violin, and Abhishek Mooruk on side rhythm.In the final presentation, senior sarod player Pt Alok Lahiri from Kolkata and his son Abhishek Lahiri presented Raag Basant Mukhari, inviting the dawn. Pt Samar Saha accompanied him on tabla.
