Dumka (Jharkhand), March 26 (IANS) Tension gripped Dumka, the sub-capital of Jharkhand, on Thursday after a madrasa teacher was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room within the Nagar police station limits of the city, officials said.

Dumka: A 45-year-old man was found dead at a hotel near Dudhani Tower Chowk here, police said on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sadik Hussain Ansari, a resident of Sakrikitta Rampur in Godda district.Police said they received information about the incident from hotel staff. A police team reached the spot and sent the body to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination on Thursday. An unnatural death case has been lodged in this connection.Police have detained a woman, identified as Radhika Rai, from Bangaon village in Godda, who was staying with Ansari in the hotel, for questioning. Sources claimed that both were married to different persons.Rai told police that Ansari returned to the room after having food, after which his health suddenly deteriorated. He started writhing in pain and later became unresponsive. “Initially, I thought he was asleep, but when he did not respond for a long time, I sought help from hotel staff,” she told cops.“According to his family members, he was a madrassa teacher,” officer in-charge of Town police station Jagannath Dhan said, adding further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and if a written complaint is filed by Ansari’s family.
