Ludhiana: A delegation of industrialists met municipal commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta to demand action on poor sanitation, broken streetlights, and encroachments in the city’s focal points. The group complained that roadsides in industrial zones have turned into dumping grounds. They noted that scattered waste creates a negative impression on international buyers and business delegations, often leaving factory owners embarrassed during client visits.Security concerns were also raised, with the delegation pointing out that a most of the 2,200 streetlight points in focal points are non-functional. The lack of lighting has led to an increase in thefts and snatchings, making it unsafe for workers during late-night shifts. The group urged the civic body to install static compactors and designated collection points to curb dumping. They also called for a crackdown on encroachments.
