Gorakhpur: A truck carrying LPG cylinders from GIDA to Pipraich for delivery caught fire late Friday, triggering panic in the area. Prompt action by police and fire brigade personnel helped bring the blaze under control within an hour, preventing it from reaching the cylinders.The incident occurred around midnight in Amkol village under Chauri Chaura police station limits. According to officials, the truck had been parked near the driver’s village.On receiving information, Circle Officer (Chauri Chaura) Kundan Singh, SHO Ved Prakash Sharma and a fire brigade team rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations. After nearly an hour of efforts, the fire was brought under control, preventing it from reaching the LPG cylinders and causing a potentially catastrophic explosion.After the fire was extinguished, the LPG cylinders were shifted to another truck and moved to a safe location. Preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit may have triggered the fire.CO Kundan Singh said police were conducting a detailed probe to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and further legal action would be taken based on the findings.
