Jaipur: Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully Friday accused BJP of violating a Rajasthan High Court order of 2001 by holding its “Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan” programme at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Aug 5, claiming the venue is meant exclusively for sports activities except on national festivals.Questioning why Sports Council officials were allegedly allowing non-sporting events at the stadium over the past two-and-a-half years, Jully demanded accountability and urged the HC to take suo motu cognisance against those responsible for violating its directions. “Under what pressure are Sports Council officials ultimately sidelining the judicial order?” he asked on ‘X’.Jully said a stadium built for athletes’ training and sporting activities should not be turned into a venue for political programmes.
