Madikeri: The long-cherished dream of constructing Buntara Bhavan for the Bunts community is finally set to become a reality.The Kodagu Bunts Bhavan Trust, in association with the Kodagu Bunts Association, has prepared a plan to construct a modern, well-equipped building on Rao Bahadur Ramaiah Poonja Road (Abbi Falls Road) in Madikeri at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore. A detailed blueprint has already been drawn up, and the foundation stone will be laid on May 1 in the presence of several dignitaries, Kodagu Bunts Association president Jagadish Rai said.He said the founder-president of the Kodagu Bunts Bhavan Trust, the late BT Premnath Poonja of Madikeri, had donated 0.5 acres (52 cents) for the construction of the building.Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda will inaugurate the construction work. Virajpet MLA AS Ponnanna and Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar will attend the event, while Gurudevananda of Gurudevadatta Samsthanam, Odiyur, will bless the occasion.Mangaluru MP Brijesh Chauta, Kodagu MLC Suja Kushalappa, and Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai will also participate in the programme, he added.
