Martins has also interned with IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals

London: Armaan Martins, a student at St Paul’s School in London, is using economics, data science and statistical modelling to examine how talent is valued in professional sport, with his independently authored research on valuation inefficiencies in football wages accepted by the National High School Journal of Science and presented at an international social sciences conference in Stockholm.

Martins’ research examines the relationship between player wages and underlying measures of talent and performance, seeking to identify instances where sporting talent may be overvalued or undervalued.

The work earned him a CREST Gold Award and associate membership of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society.

His work also extends from research into applied sports analytics. Martins has developed Bat & Bids, an IPL auction price forecasting platform, and CricketIQ, a platform aimed at supporting grassroots cricket clubs. He has also developed HireProof, a placement platform that was piloted with NGO VIDYA.

Martins has also interned with IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, where he worked on models designed to predict player auction values.

Alongside his work in economics and data science, Martins is a multiple UK Maths Challenge Gold Award winner and was shortlisted for the Oxford Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators. In 2026, he won the Queen’s Club U19 squash championship.

His work spans academic research and applied analytics, using statistical models to examine decision-making and valuation in professional and grassroots sport.
