Nagpur: A Central Railway (CR) loco pilot from Tadali in Chandrapur died by suicide at the railway hospital on Friday. Sudhakar Chunarkar (59) had been admitted to the hospital on Thursday. His body was found hanging from a towel in the bathroom of private ward number 6, police said.His wife had gone to their native place on Friday morning following the death of a relative. Sources said Chunarkar had fallen from the first floor of his building on March 20, sustaining fractures in both legs. He was initially treated in Chandrapur before being shifted to Nagpur Railway Hospital.Between 2pm and 4pm, while one of his relatives was waiting outside, Chunarkar went into the bathroom. When he did not come out for a long time, the relative grew suspicious and broke open the door, only to find him hanging.Hospital authorities alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP). City police were also informed, and a forensic science team reached the spot.Sadar police registered the case as an accidental death. Police said no suicide note was found. Central Railway has also ordered a departmental inquiry.
