Ahmedabad: The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) on Tuesday seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 18.6 lakh in two separate raids in Banaskantha and Kheda districts. They arrested one man and booked 13 others under the prohibition act.In the first case, an SMC team raided a place near Jagatpura Patiya on the Palanpur-Ambaji Highway in Danta taluka of Banaskantha. They recovered 104 cartons containing 4,536 bottles of IMFL and beer valued at Rs 11.9 lakh. Including vehicles and other articles, the total seizure was estimated at Rs 20.9 lakh.An offence was registered at Danta police station against eight people under the Gujarat Prohibition Act and the BNS.Police said two of the wanted accused have prohibition cases pending against them. Police said the liquor consignment was sourced from Rajasthan and intended for distribution in Gujarat.In the second operation, SMC seized 70 cartons containing 2,613 bottles of beer worth Rs 6.63 lakh during a raid near Aral gram panchayat in Kathlal taluka of Kheda district.The driver of the vehicle transporting the liquor from Rajasthan was arrested, while five others managed to escape. A case was registered at Kathlal police station under the Gujarat Prohibition Act and the BNS.
