Kanpur: A 48-year-old contract lineman died after suffering an electric shock and falling about 25 feet from a pole while repairing a power fault in Kanpur’s Govind Nagar police station area on Thursday evening.According to police, the deceased, Lala, a resident of Auras in Unnao district, was deployed in KESCO’s Udyog Kunj area in Govind Nagar.He reached the spot with a colleague around 5.30 pm after receiving information about the fault at around 5 pm. Lala was repairing the line atop a pole when the power supply was allegedly restored unexpectedly. He came into contact with the live current and fell onto the road.He was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition and later referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.He is survived by his wife, Suman, son Vikas and daughter Vaishnavi.
