Kanpur: A 48-year-old contract lineman died after coming into contact with a high-tension line and falling 25 feet from an electric pole in Jajmau, Kanpur, on Sunday morning.The deceased, Ravi, a resident of Ahirwan, was working near Chhabilepurwa when he suffered an electric shock and fell, his brother Aman said. He was rushed to Kanshiram Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.His family later accused his superior of harassment and alleged that he had been sent to work without any safety equipment.Ravi’s wife, Anita, accused the junior engineer posted at the Jajmau substation of forcing her husband to climb electric poles in wet clothes and work during heavy rain.She alleged that Ravi was again forced to climb a pole without any safety gear on Sunday.Jajmau police station in charge Sanjay Pandey said they would register a case based on the family’s complaint.
