Amritsar: Workers representing four prominent left parties—the CPI, CPI(M), RMP, and CPI(ML) Liberation—gathered at Putlighar Chowk on Sunday to voice their dissent. During the demonstration, the protestors burned effigies of the presidents of the United States and Israel to protest the ongoing global conflict. While addressing the large gathering, farmer leader Rattan Singh Randhawa warned that the international impact of this war would inevitably lead to a further rise in inflation and unemployment.Randhawa specifically highlighted that India, which remains heavily dependent on imported oil and gas, is set to face severe economic strain as the war is likely to push up the prices of these essential commodities. Rising fuel prices, Randhawa noted, would further burden common consumers with inflation. He pointed out that the government has already increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by ₹60 and commercial cylinders by ₹140, significantly adding to the public’s existing hardship. Other leaders who addressed the gathering included Amarjit Singh Asal, Charanjit Singh Majitha, Sucha Singh Ajnala, Jagtar Singh Karmapura, Lakhbir Singh Nijampur, Vijay Kapoor, Daswinder Kaur, Kanwaljit Kaur and Balbir Singh Moodhal.MSID:: 129880963 413 |
