Ranchi: Left parties and members of the minority community on Sunday condemned the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei in the ‘Operation Epic Fury by the United States and Israel. They also held demonstrations at various places in the city to protest the incident.Members of Left parties, including the CPM, CPI(ML) and CPI, staged a demonstration at Albert Ekka Chowk, raising slogans against the US and Israel, and demanding an end to the war and attacks on people in Iran.CPI(ML) state secretary Manoj Bhakt said, “The US and Israeli missiles are killing citizens, including women and children, in Iran. The Indian govt should clearly state that Iran is a friendly country and condemn the war in strong words.”Left members claimed that the action was an attack on the sovereignty of a country.Religious leader Tahjebul Hasan Rizvi claimed that Khamenei was not only a leader of the community but a symbol of unity among Islamic states. “His death is a huge loss to the community,” he said. Community members took out a procession from Zafaria Mosque to Vikram Chowk, carrying Khamenei’s posters.Rizvi said, “I request PM Narendra Modi to ensure the safe return of Indians stranded in different Gulf countries due to the conflict.”
