Ranchi: As Sanju Samson hit a lofted four in the last over of the Super 8 match between India and West Indies at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on Sunday night, ensuring India’s place in the semi-final of the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup, cricket fans here erupted in joy and hit the streets to celebrate the victory.Bablu Choudhury, a cricket fan at Albert Ekka Chowk, said, “I was afraid India may lose the decisive match, as the team’s run rate was low at the start of the innings and wickets were also falling. But in the second half, the team played extraordinarily well, clinching the victory.”Another fan, Deepak Mishra, credited Sanju Samson for the victory. “Samson is definitely the hero of the match. Scoring an unbeaten 97 in just 50 balls, he ensured the victory. Now I hope that the team win the semi-final match too and clinch the trophy,” Mishra added.Earlier, the streets wore a deserted look in the evening as cricket enthusiasts remained inside their homes, glued to their screens.
