Kanpur: Advocates in Kanpur abstained from judicial work on Thursday and participated in a two-day state-level advocates’ conference, bringing judicial work at the courts to a standstill.Following the decision by office-bearers of the Kanpur Bar Association and the lawyers association, stamp vendors operating inside and outside the court premises also downed shutters. In the afternoon, office-bearers of the two associations reached the court building after receiving information that some advocates were attempting to undertake judicial work. They asked the court office staff to close their offices and urged court readers and other staff not to carry out judicial work. The development caused inconvenience to litigants who had reached the courts to know the next dates of their cases. They returned home disappointed after being unable to get the required information.Meanwhile, several advocates preferred to stay at home and prepare themselves for cases listed from Monday. The courts will remain closed on the second Saturday and Sunday.
