Police reached the spot and attempted to pacify the protesters. The agitation continued till late evening, with police officials seeking bar association’s intervention to resolve the issue. A senior police officer told TOI that the allegations against SHO were baseless and said police had a recording of the incident. The officer said the dispute stemmed from construction activity inside the court complex. “There was some issue related to construction inside the court campus and members of the bar and some judicial officials had asked us to ensure that no construction resumed during vacation,” he said.According to the officer, the SHO visited the complex after learning that construction work had resumed. “We tried to pacify the lawyers and told them that even the bar association had asked us not to allow the construction to start. But all of a sudden, one lawyer claimed that the SHO had misbehaved with him and demanded action against him,” the officer said.Police said they were trying to resolve the matter through discussions with the bar association while maintaining that the recording of the incident would help establish what transpired.
