Jaipur: A bomb threat to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) triggered a security scare in Jaipur Tuesday, prompting a long search of the building by multiple security agencies before police arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of making the threatening call.The threat was received at the Jaipur police control room, after which security agencies were alerted and teams were rushed to the CMO.DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma reached the spot and supervised the security response. A joint search operation involving the dog squad, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other security personnel began around 10.30am.Teams searched the building and surrounding areas for nearly 4.5 hours but found no suspicious object, police said.Varma said police detained a suspect, identified as Lala Kothari (39), a resident of Sawai Madhopur, in connection with the threat. He is being questioned to establish the circumstances in which the call was made.Preliminary investigation indicated that Kothari may have made the threat while under the influence of alcohol, police said. Investigators are examining his call records and other details to establish whether he acted alone and why he made the threat.The threat prompted heightened security at the CMO as police and other agencies conducted the search. Officials said the building was thoroughly checked before the operation was called off after nothing suspicious was found.
