Bengaluru: A late-night outing at a bar turned into a nightmare for two men after a confrontation escalated into a violent knife attack near Opera Junction in the early hours of April 7.The complainant, 30-year-old mechanic Mohammed Saifulla from Kalasipalya, told police that he and his brother Imran went to a bar on Residency Road around 11pm on April 6 with two friends. While drinking, a group of men allegedly began harassing them with intimidating stares, creating tension inside the bar.Although Saifulla and his group avoided confrontation, the situation escalated after their friends left around 12.45am. Around 1am, as Saifulla and Imran walked toward the parking area, the same group reportedly reignited the argument.Sensing trouble and spotting a Hoysala police vehicle approaching, the brothers left on their two-wheeler and headed toward Opera Junction. At 1.30am, while Saifulla was trying to book a cab home and Imran was on his way to his residence in RT Nagar, the confrontation took a violent turn. A group of four men who were at the bar got down from a white Swift car, which allegedly followed them and stopped behind their bike. One of the accused reportedly slapped Imran. When Saifulla intervened, one among the group stabbed the complainant in the chest with a knife. Another attacker stabbed him near the ear and on the right side of his face, leaving him seriously injured.On noticing police approaching the area, the accused fled in the car along a one-way stretch of Residency Road.Saifulla was rushed to the hospital, and he is out of risk. A case of attempt to murder has been registered by Ashok Nagar police, and an attacker identified as Zabiullah was arrested Wednesday. Efforts are on to nab others.
