Gandhinagar: Director general of police and head of police force K L N Rao on Monday said that the cyber cell has been instructed to continuously monitor elements spreading rumours or incorrect information on the Umreth assembly byelection on social media and to take immediate strict action against content that disrupts the electoral process.The DGP conducted a review of security preparations and the law and order situation to ensure that the election is held in a free and fair manner. Quoting the DGP, an official statement said that the police force is committed to providing a secure environment for conducting free, fair and transparent elections.The DGP visited Anand on Monday and held a meeting with district officials, discussing the deployment plans for local police, Central Armed Police Forces and State Reserve Police Force personnel. Voting for the bypoll will be held on April 23.
