Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has said the govt will not spare those who used fraudulent ways to mutate or occupy govt property or land parcels belonging to the poor. “We are enquiring into land transactions that happened in Dharani and Bhu Bharati portals on a fast-track mode. The culprits will face the law,” he added.Addressing a news conference at the secretariat on Saturday, the minister alleged that during the previous govt’s tenure, the Dharani portal was used as a shield for large-scale land fraud, illegal mutations, and transfer of govt land parcels.He said an “inquiry is underway into how much land was in the prohibited list when the present (Congress) govt assumed office, who added that land, when it was added, for what reasons, and why it was later removed”. “Survey work has already been completed in 276 villages, and a unique Bhoodhar number, similar to Aadhaar, will be assigned to every survey number. The response from the public has been very encouraging, with objections arising in only about 2% of cases,” he said.The minister said the state has around 85,000 acres of assigned land, and a comprehensive policy decision was needed in that regard.
