Gorakhpur: A grand lamp-lighting ceremony was organised in Gorakhpur on Thursday evening as part of the Seva Sankalp Campaign, highlighting the themes of public service, good governance and inclusive development. Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan Shukla participated in the event and lit the ceremonial lamp, symbolising a commitment to service and nation-building.The programme focused on welfare initiatives and development work under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Speakers highlighted efforts aimed at improving the lives of farmers, women, youth and economically weaker sections through various govt schemes.The event underscored the importance of public participation in development and reiterated the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’ as a guiding principle for inclusive growth.Among the schemes highlighted were the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, PM-Kisan, Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission and other welfare initiatives aimed at expanding access to basic services and financial support.The programme also showcased Gorakhpur’s transformation in recent years, citing improvements in road, rail and air connectivity, expansion of healthcare and educational infrastructure and growing industrial activity.The development of AIIMS Gorakhpur, expansion of the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) area and increasing employment opportunities were highlighted as key drivers of growth in eastern Uttar Pradesh.Speakers said Gorakhpur is emerging not only as a religious and cultural centre but also as a hub for healthcare, education, industry and modern infrastructure. The expansion of industrial activity in GIDA was cited as a factor contributing to job creation and economic growth in the region.The lamp-lighting ceremony aimed at spreading awareness, service and development across society. Organisers said true objective of welfare schemes is achieved when benefits reach eligible beneficiaries transparently and improve their quality of life.
