Lalu’s daughter Rohini Acharya

Patna: Bihar political circles remained abuzz with speculation after bundles of RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s biography were found dumped on a heap of garbage on the outskirts of Patna, drawing sharp criticism from his Singapore-based daughter, Rohini Acharya.Describing it as a “conspiracy to erase and tarnish Lalu’s saga of glory”, Rohini suspected the involvement of some of his “close people” in the incident, allegedly at the behest of the opposition, and demanded an investigation into the matter to bring out the truth. Other members of Lalu’s family, as well as the party, however, maintained silence over the issue.Rohini took to social media shortly after visuals of Lalu Prasad’s biography and other books related to him, found abandoned in the Sampatchak area of the district, went viral.“Who dumped the biography of Lalu ji, along with several books and memorabilia related to his life, on a heap of garbage near Udeni H524 in the Sampatchak area near Patna? Who wants to erase the invaluable heritage connected to Lalu ji? Whose heart harbours so much hatred for Lalu ji? Could it be that someone considered ‘one of our own’ is doing this at the behest of his opponents?” Rohini posted on Tuesday.Rohini, who left her parents’ home shortly after the Nov 2025 assembly poll debacle, refused to accept it as a simple incident. “This is not merely an insult to some books, documents and things associated with Lalu ji, but it raises serious questions about the treatment meted out to a great man, the unparalleled political legacy associated with him, and documents linked to political history,” she said, adding that it was a conspiracy to “erase and tarnish Lalu ji’s saga of glory”. She demanded a thorough probe into the matter to bring out the truth. The RJD, however, played down the issue, saying all books on Lalu were safe. “The books have not been thrown,” RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav said.
