KURUKSHETRA: Kurukshetra Police have arrested a snatching accused who allegedly escaped from LNJP Civil Hospital on September 5, nearly a day after being admitted there from the district jail following an alleged suicide attempt.The accused, identified as Satinder Singh alias Kanti, a resident of Mandokhra village in Kurukshetra district, was arrested by a CIA-I team on Tuesday, police said.According to PSI Rahul, the CIA-I team was patrolling the Shahabad area on September 1 when it received information that members of the public had caught a youth allegedly involved in snatching gold earrings from a woman in Ishargarh village.Police reached the spot and arrested Satinder. A motorcycle and two gold earrings were recovered from his possession.Following a complaint by Sukhrampal, a resident of Ishargarh, a case was registered at Thanesar Sadar police station. Satinder was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.Police said Satinder was admitted to LNJP Civil Hospital from the district jail on the night of September 4. At around 6 am the following day, he allegedly escaped from the hospital on the pretext of going to the bathroom.A separate case was registered against him at Kurukshetra University police station, following which police launched a search.During interrogation, Satinder allegedly told police that after escaping, he reached Kurukshetra railway station and took a train to Ambala before travelling to Punjab.He allegedly stayed in a park near Ludhiana railway station, sleeping there at night and moving around during the day. Police said he allegedly stole a mobile phone when he needed drugs, sold it to buy “chitta” (heroin) and returned to the park.After spending two to three days in Ludhiana and Khanna, he allegedly stole a motorcycle and rode it to Ambala. He was reportedly preparing to return to his village when the CIA-I team arrested him near Ishargarh.Satinder was produced before a court on Tuesday, police said.
