Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded that the Congress govt and CM Revanth Reddy to clarify its official stand on the revival of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) plant in Adilabad.In his letter to CM Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, KTR stated that the revival of the Adilabad CCI plant is not merely an industrial issue but one that concerns the livelihoods of thousands of families, the industrial future of Adilabad district and the overall economic development of Telangana.KTR said he along with some leaders of CCI met union minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy on July 15 and explained the employment potential and economic benefits that revival of the plant would generate for Adilabad and the surrounding region.“The union minister made it clear that revival of the Adilabad CCI plant would be possible if the Telangana govt came forward with a state contribution of ₹250 crore. The minister informed the delegation that the process had been delayed because the state govt had neither submitted any formal proposal nor communicated its willingness to extend incentives or provide the required support. The major hurdles to revival could be removed if the state govt took the initiative,” he said.Criticising the Congress govt the BRS working president said that despite the union govt expressing a positive approach, the state govt had failed to announce its official position on the issue. He alleged that the delay over the last two-and-a-half years reflected the Congress govt’s lack of commitment. He also criticised the govt for neither pursuing a coordinated approach with the Centre nor announcing an independent plan to revive the industry.KTR reminded Chief Minister Revanth Reddy that he had promised during the assembly election campaign in Adilabad to revive the CCI plant and had reiterated the commitment after assuming office as CM. However, he said those promises had remained unfulfilled. He alleged that the state govt had failed to hold even basic official discussions with the union govt, submit the necessary proposals or offer clarity on incentives, and that the Centre itself had now confirmed these as the reasons for the delay.Appealing to the state govt to rise above politics, KTR urged it to take an immediate positive decision in the larger interests of Adilabad and Telangana. He also said that if CM Revanth Reddy and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu were willing to grant an appointment, he and representatives of the CCI Sadhana Samithi were prepared to personally submit a representation.ends/
