The outflow stood at 2,656 cusecs against an inflow of 598 cusecs at KRS reservoir on Thursday

Mandya: The water level at the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) reservoir in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district declined to 100.6 feet as of Thursday amid continued water releases to Tamil Nadu, raising concerns among farmers and residents over falling storage levels.Against the reservoir’s full level of 124.8 feet, the water level stood at 100.64 feet, with storage at 23.5TMC against its total capacity of 49.4TMC. The dam recorded an inflow of 598 cusecs and released 2,656 cusecs to comply with the directive of the Cauvery Water Management Authority. The reservoir had reached around 110 feet earlier this year but never crossed the 110-foot mark. The level has since receded to nearly 100 feet. The dwindling reserves have become a concern as the region depends on the reservoir for irrigation and drinking water. With outflow exceeding inflow, the reservoir’s storage continues to face pressure. The water level at the Kabini dam in neighbouring Mysuru district is also approaching the dead storage level, heightening concerns among farmers and residents. They are keeping a close watch on reservoir storage and the availability of water for agricultural and domestic needs.
