Mangaluru: Konaje police arrested a 19-year-old youth allegedly involved in drug peddling and seized MDMA and other materials from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Zakir, a resident of Kasaba Bengre.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said the arrest followed credible information received by the police. A team from the Konaje Police Station conducted a raid at a public place near Fiza Grounds in Belma village, Ullal taluk, on Sunday. During the operation, the youth was allegedly selling MDMA to customers, including college students, he said.Police recovered 10.6 grams of MDMA, valued at around Rs 1 lakh, from his possession. They also seized a mobile phone, a digital weighing scale, zip-lock transparent covers, a smoke tube, a syringe, and a motorcycle without a number plate.Police have registered a case under sections 8(c), 22, 22(a), 22(b) and 22(c) of the NDPS Act.
