Kullu: The Himachal police have arrested an accused from Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir in a case of charas smuggling. A spokesperson of the state police department said on Sunday that Vijay Kumar alias VK, a resident of Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested from his residence on March 22 by a CIA team from Nurpur in Kangra district. He said that an FIR was registered at Police Station Nurpur on Oct 11, 2025, after a total of 6 kilograms of charas was recovered during a checkpoint operation at Kandwal barrier. In this case, three accused from Mandi were arrested on the spot. The spokesperson said that during the investigation of the case, the main accused, Shubhkaran, a resident of Samkehar of Jawali in district Kangra, was identified and subsequently arrested from Chandigarh on Nov 1, 2025. Further investigation revealed that the recovered consignment of narcotics was to be received by Vijay Kumar. He said that with this operation, the Himachal Pradesh Police have dealt a major blow to an interstate drug trafficking network linked to Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
