Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor

Patna: After winning the Bankipur assembly bypoll, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and the BJP’s central leadership to go for a regime change in Bihar. He pitched for replacing the present chief minister Samrat Choudhary with someone who has a credible ‘chaal, charitra, chehra’ (conduct, character and face) to lead the state in the interest of its people.“The singular message from the Bankipur bypoll outcome for PM Narendra Modi, BJP and Union home minister Amit Shah is that they should bring about a regime change in Bihar and replace CM Samrat Choudhary with someone who has good ‘chaal, charitra, chehra’ with an eye on the next parliamentary elections,” Kishor said while speaking to reporters.Kishor also said PM Modi and Shah could not hope to repeat their Lok Sabha performance in Bihar solely on the basis of providing 5 kg of foodgrains to identified poor beneficiaries. He contrasted Bihar’s development indicators with those of Gujarat, the home state of Modi and Shah.Pointing to what he described as the message from Bankipur, Kishor said, “A BJP fort standing for the last 30 years has collapsed in 30 days.”“If Gujarat has given 25 MPs to the BJP, then 13 crore people of Bihar have also voted for their party. If Gujarat has a bullet train, then Bihar too should have such trains and the benefits of development. One crore people of Bihar should not remain merely migrant workers earning Rs10,000 per month in Gujarat and other parts of the country, including metropolitan cities,” he said.“The Bihar NDA has 202 MLAs, and therefore, the BJP can pick a better person to lead the state,” he said, reiterating his demand for a change in leadership. He also alleged that a person with a “criminal background” could not provide the desired visionary leadership to the state.“I, as an MLA, cannot make Bankipur a Bengaluru, but we will work for change and it will be visible in two-three months,” Kishor said.
