Begusarai: A woman and her son were crushed to death by a speeding tractor near Pangachhi under Begusarai mufassil police station area on Monday. The accident took place while Gita Devi (50) and her son Hariom Kumar (25) were returning home on a bike after taking bath in the Ganga river at Chhitraur ghat.Hariom’s maternal uncle Binod Kumar said as soon as the bike reached near Pangachhi on Matihani-Begusarai road, a brick-laden speeding tractor ran over them. “While Gita died on the spot, her son Hariom succumbed to his injuries at the hospital,” he said. He alleged that the tractor was being driven by a minor boy. The tractor driver fled the spot leaving behind the tractor. To protest the incident, a mob blocked traffic on Begusarai-Matihani road. Begusarai traffic DSP Ranjit Kumar persuaded the protesting people to lift the blockade.
