Imphal: Manipur chief minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday chaired a Combined Headquarters (Unified Command) security meeting at the CM Secretariat in Imphal to review the law-and-order situation across the state.The security situation along the state’s national highways was also discussed at the meeting, which was attended by chief secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, security adviser Kuldiep Singh, Manipur DGP Mukesh Singh and other security officials.The CM also chaired a high-level meeting with the same top security officials and representatives of transporters to discuss the resumption of the Imphal-Guwahati and Imphal-Dimapur bus services soon.The decision to resume Imphal-Guwahati and Imphal-Dimapur bus services was jointly declared by Khemchand, deputy CM Nemcha Kipgen and Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen at the Kangpokpi district headquarters on Saturday.Meanwhile, the United Naga Council (UNC), which has been enforcing an inter-district economic blockade, held talks with a govt delegation headed by deputy CM Losii Dikho and home minister Govindas Konthoujam in Senapati on Monday.The UNC, however, refused to lift the blockade along NH-2 until its four demands were met, its president Ng Lorho said after the informal talks. He added that the two sides discussed ways to restore peace in Manipur.The UNC has demanded justice for six Liangmai Naga civilians who were allegedly abducted, the abrogation of the suspension of operations agreement with Kuki militant groups, the designation of KNF(P) as a terrorist organisation and the removal of Kipgen as deputy chief minister.The meeting marked the first round of dialogue between the UNC and the govt since the council enforced an inter-district economic blockade following the abduction and killing of six Naga civilians.
