Mangaluru: Bharathesha Alasandemajalu has been selected for the International Wikimania-2026 conference to be held in Paris, France, from July 21 to 25.An executive member of the Karavali Wikimedians User Group in Mangaluru, he will serve as an ambassador for the Tulu and Kannada languages on the global platform. Joining hundreds of open-knowledge advocates and multilingual contributors from around the world, he will participate in discussions focused on digital equity, localised technology integration, and the preservation of indigenous languages in the Global South. He is the son of Bojappa Gowda A and Girija AB.Hailing from Alasandemajalu in Puttur taluk, Bharathesha is currently a PhD research scholar in the Department of Studies in Dravidian Culture, Kannada University, Hampi. Professionally, he is employed at the Kavu branch of the Bank of Baroda.He is a former member of the Karnataka State Arebhashe Samskriti Mattu Sahithya Academy.Notably, he has spearheaded monumental documentation initiatives for the language, serving as the chief editor of the first monumental Arebhashe Encyclopedia, and the main editor for the comprehensive 18,000-word Arebhashe Dictionary, a release stated.
