Times News NetworkKanpur: Advocates in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Kanpur Nagar, abstained from judicial work on Wednesday to press for their demands. The decision to abstain from work every Wednesday was taken during a two-day state-level advocates’ convention held in Kanpur on Sept 10 and 11. Representatives of various district Bar Associations had agreed to continue the protest until their demands were considered.In Kanpur, the Kanpur Bar Association (KBA) and Lawyers’ Association had announced on Tuesday that their members would observe mass leave on Sept 23. Both associations had also put up banners at the gates of their respective premises announcing the boycott of judicial work. Due to active patrolling by members of the two associations on the court premises, most advocates either remained in their chambers or did not turn up at the courts. However, the patrolling teams allowed litigants to enter the court buildings to obtain fresh dates for their cases.Meanwhile, the two associations jointly submitted a memorandum to the chief minister through the divisional commissioner.
