Kanpur: Mahendra Singh Tanwar took charge of the office as the 59th district magistrate of Kanpur Nagar on Wednesday.He stated that his top priority will be to ensure that benefits of public welfare schemes reach the last person in line—in accordance with the govt’s intent—and public grievances are resolved promptly.While talking to reporters, he said that his objective will be to recognise the needs of the district, make development works and public amenities more effective and ensure transparency in the implementation of schemes while achieving targets set by the govt in a timely manner. Priority will be given to issues of public interest through better coordination with officials and a spirit of teamwork, he added.The DM said that Kanpur Nagar was the third district where he was going to serve as the DM after Sant Kabir Nagar and Kushinagar.Earlier in the morning, he took charge at the treasury and after the introduction of officials and employees, he inspected the Collectorate premises and issued necessary directives. He visited offices to review work procedures, record-keeping, and disposal of cases.He directed the officials and staff to ensure that the tasks are executed in a timely, transparent, and high-quality manner and public grievances are resolved on a priority basis.Chief development officer Abhinav J Jain, Joint Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) Anubhav Singh, IAS officer Sandeep Kumar, additional district magistrate (City) Saurabh Singh, additional district magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Vivek Chaturvedi, and other officials were present on the occasion.
