Chandigarh: The Kalka Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi from Chandigarh and Amritsar-Delhi Shatabdi are among 29 trains cancelled on Saturday, Oct 10, in view of the protest call by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in Delhi.The cancellations are applicable to Oct 10 only, according to information available from the railways. Several other trains originating from Amritsar, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Daulatpur Chowk and Una have also been cancelled.The Ambala division of Northern Railway has deployed officers and staff round the clock at major stations, including Ambala, Saharanpur and Bathinda, to assist passengers and provide timely information.The divisional control room is also operating 24 hours a day, with staff deployed in shifts to ensure continuous monitoring and coordination.A war room has been set up at the divisional level to facilitate coordination among railway stations, the control room and various departments, enabling prompt response to passenger queries and operational requirements.Passengers have been advised to check their train status through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or official railway channels.BOX | No air, road transport cancellationsAirport authorities and state road transport authorities have confirmed that there are no cancellations or fare hikes in operations for Oct 10. Flight booking sites and travel agents show normal Chandigarh-Delhi fares ranging between Rs 5,200 and Rs 5,500 for Oct 10, with no cancellations.State transport authorities said all buses are scheduled to run on time and there are no cancellations. However, unconfirmed reports indicated that there might be restrictions on Delhi borders. The Delhi Metro has already announced closure of several stations and cancellation of metro services.
