Ranchi: Rasoiyas and Sanyojikas, who are employed on contract in govt schools across Jharkhand, protested outside Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha in Dhurwa on Monday to seek better pay and other benefits.A group of Jharkhand Teachers Eligibility Test (JTET) aspirants also staged a separate protest seeking that the examination, which is pending since 2016, be conducted at once. Hundreds of rasoiyas and sanyojikas from all over the state gathered under the banner of Jharkhand Pradesh Vidyalaya Rasoiyas, Sanyojikas Adhyaksh Sangh. Besides an increase in their minimum wages, they sought honorarium for the sanyojikas in line with the sahayikas and linkages with pension schemes.All participants sat on the road near the Jagannath Temple throughout the day, shouting slogans in support of their demands.“The rasoiyas are working for Rs 100 per day while sanyojikas and adhyaksh were working for free,” Ajit Prajapati, president of the Sangh, said. Another leader, Anita Devi Kesri, said, “The state govt is providing aid of Rs 2,500 under Maiyyan Samman Yojna. Are we not mothers and sisters that govt is ignoring our demands? We would continue our agitation till the demands are met.”A group of JTET aspirants also shouted slogans demanding early conduct of the examinations, which have been pending since 2016.
