Srinagar, Sep 01: The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced 2,863 vacancies for Class-IV (MTS) and Sanitation Worker posts across various departments under the Union Territory, divisional and district cadres.
According to the recruitment notification issued on Tuesday, eligible candidates can submit their applications online from October 5, while the last date for filing applications has been fixed as November 3, 2026.
Of the total 2,863 posts, 105 vacancies have been earmarked under the UT cadre, 1,990 under divisional cadres and 768 under district cadres. The divisional allocation comprises 1,093 posts in the Jammu division and 897 in the Kashmir division.
Under the district cadre, 59 posts have been allocated to Anantnag, 20 to Bandipora, 75 to Baramulla, 47 to Budgam, 46 each to Doda and Ganderbal, 65 to Jammu, 50 to Kathua, 25 to Kishtwar, 23 to Kulgam, 24 to Kupwara, 53 to Srinagar and 46 to Udhampur.
The notification states that applicants must be domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir and possess a valid domicile certificate by the last date for submission of applications.
For Class-IV (MTS) posts, candidates must have passed matriculation but should not possess a qualification higher than 10+2. For Sanitation Worker posts, the minimum educational qualification is Class 8, while candidates with qualifications above 10+2 are not eligible.
The posts carry a pay scale of Level SL1, ranging from Rs 14,800 to Rs 47,100.
As per the notification, the maximum age limit, reckoned as on January 1, 2026, is 40 years for Open Merit candidates, 43 years for several reserved categories and 42 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). An additional five-year relaxation in the upper age limit will be available to eligible candidates claiming additional weightage as casual workers under the applicable rules.
The application fee has been fixed at Rs 600 for general candidates, while candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD categories will be required to pay Rs 500. The fee can be deposited online through net banking, credit card or debit card.
Selection will be made on the basis of a written examination and additional points, as prescribed under the Jammu and Kashmir Appointment to Class IV (Special Recruitment) Rules, 2020.
The written examination will comprise objective-type multiple-choice questions. Candidates will face negative marking, with one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question deducted for every wrong answer.
The JKSSB said the date of the examination and examination centres will be notified separately through its official website.
