Srinagar, Aug 03: The Jammu and Kashmir government’s Single Window System (SWS), introduced to improve the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) by providing a unified digital platform for statutory approvals and clearances, has processed over 8.77 lakh applications, approving nearly 7 lakh of them, reflecting an approval rate of nearly 79 per cent.
The figures, as per the real-time Management Information System (MIS) dashboard, indicate the growing adoption of the online platform by businesses, entrepreneurs and investors seeking time-bound services from multiple government departments through a single interface.
The Jammu and Kashmir Single Window Clearance System was launched on February 7, 2022, making J&K the first Union Territory to integrate with the National Single Window System to boost ease of doing business.
As per the details, 8,77,561 applications have been processed till August 03, 2026, while 6,92,239 of them have been approved. Besides, 41,064 applications have been rejected and 421 cancelled, while 1,43,760 applications remain pending. Of these, 28,814 are pending with departments, and 1,14,946 are awaiting action from investors or applicants, suggesting that a majority of pending cases require applicant-side compliance or response.
The platform currently has 5,54,921 registered users, offers 221 notified services, has received 2,81,389 Common Application Forms (CAFs), recorded 104 New Single Window (NSW) applications, and registered 9,267 grievances.
The Labour Department accounted for the highest number of applications, receiving 4,56,158 requests, which is more than half of the total applications on the portal. According to the details, 3,85,862 of them have so far been approved.
The Department of Handloom and Handicraft processed 1,74,426 applications, approving 1,17,752, while Legal Metrology handled 1,33,219 applications, clearing 1,25,378. The Jal Shakti Department, Industries and Commerce Department, and Home-Fire and Emergency Services Department also recorded significant application volumes.
The details further show that the platform has collected more than Rs 74.03 crore in application fees, underscoring its growing role as the government’s primary digital gateway for regulatory approvals and investor facilitation in Jammu and Kashmir.
It is worth mentioning here that the application fee for the J&K Single Window System has no uniformity, as the costs depend entirely on the specific department, license or service.
