Jamshedpur: Concerned over the spike in criminal activities in the twin industrial towns of Jamshedpur and Adityapur, DGP Tadasa Mishra on Thursday reviewed the law-and-order situation with senior police officials of East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.At a meeting held at East Singhbhum SSP Ehtesham Waquarib’s residential office in Bistupur, the DGP took stock of major cases, including the bank robbery in Golmuri and the firing incident at a restaurant on Marine Drive in Sonari.The DGP reviewed the progress of investigations, police action taken so far, and efforts to arrest the remaining accused in both cases. She directed officers to strengthen the intelligence network and intensify patrolling to prevent organised crime, sources said.With the ensuing festive season drawing huge crowds to markets and malls, she instructed officials to map and monitor crowded public spaces. Incidents of chain-snatching, seizure of narcotics, and recovery of illegal arms also figured during the review.The DGP also sought feedback on measures to improve policing and stressed that ensuring public safety and creating a deterrent against criminal activities must remain the force’s top priorities.Directions on crime control, action against organised crime, further strengthening and making QR-based beat policing more effective, and expediting the investigation of important cases were given by DGP Mishra, East Singhbhum police said in a press statement issued on Thursday.Four persons accused of plotting the Sonari restaurant firing case, in which four people sustained bullet injuries, have been arrested from Raipur. Efforts were under way to nab the shooters. In the Golmuri-based bank robbery case, in which armed assailants allegedly decamped with cash and gold jewellery, investigation was continuing, sources in the police said.
