Ranchi: Jharkhand chief minister (CM) Hemant Soren on Thursday directed officials to prepare a roadmap for developing satellite townships in urbanised districts while reviewing land-related issues concerning the Greater Ranchi Development Authority (GRDA) and Ranchi Smart City project.At a review meeting with departments concerned, Soren asked officials to undertake a comprehensive assessment of land availability, infrastructure, connectivity, civic amenities, employment opportunities, and future population requirements before drawing up plans for satellite townships on the lines of the Smart City model.Emphasising planned urbanisation, the CM said, “Urban development should go beyond the construction of roads and buildings and focus on creating citizen-centric, future-ready cities.”The meeting also reviewed the expansion plans of Ranchi Smart City. Soren directed officials to evaluate the project’s current resources and prepare a detailed strategy for its expansion in view of the growing population, increasing economic activity and rising urban needs.Officials also discussed the possibility of holding talks with the Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) on land and other issues related to the planned development of the Smart City area. The chief minister asked departments concerned to study all relevant aspects and ensure preparedness for future initiatives.He directed officials to expedite land-related processes, improve inter-departmental coordination, regularly review progress and ensure that all targets are achieved within stipulated timelines.
