Health minister Irfan Ansari thanks CM Hemant Soren after the state cabinet approved over Rs 4,000 crore for Rims-2

Ranchi: The state cabinet on Thursday approved the construction of Rims-2 in Ranchi’s Kanke area, granting administrative approval for the Rs 4,189.41 crore for this project aimed at expanding the state’s healthcare infrastructure.The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by chief minister Hemant Soren. Talking to reporters after the meeting outside Project Building, Hemant and health minister Irfan Ansari said the govt had been consistently working to make the project a reality and described Rims-2 as a landmark initiative that would provide modern, advanced and high-quality healthcare services to the people of Jharkhand.Cabinet coordination department secretary Vandana Dadel said that Jagriti PMU has been appointed as the Project Management Unit (PMU) for Rims-2 project. “IIM Ranchi will help in developing it into centre of excellence while XISS Ranchi will conduct its impact assessment,” she said.The cabinet approved a total of 27 proposals.In another decision, the cabinet gave in-principle approval for implementation of the VB-G Ram-G, which formally came into force nationally from July 1 after repealing MGREGA.In a major administrative reform, the cabinet approved a new posting system for block development officers (BDOs) and circle officers (COs). Of the state’s 271 blocks, 164 will have both officers, 53 will have only a CO and 54 only a BDO, based on the number of panchayats in the block.The cabinet also approved the Jharkhand Planning Service Rules, 2026, the State Collectorate Clerical Cadre Rules, 2026, and the Lower Division Clerk-cum-Computer Operator Service Cadre Rules, 2026. Under these, newly appointed govt employees will now be required to take an oath of allegiance and secrecy upon joining service.Several infrastructure projects also received clearance, including Rs 221.40 crore for widening the Govindpur-Sahibganj road in Dumka, Rs 128.20 crore for two road projects in Pakur, Rs 88.84 crore for the Gopaladih-Bhognadih road in Sahibganj, Rs 36.30 crore for widening the road from Dhurwa Roundabout to Police Headquarters in Ranchi, and Rs 33.76 crore for improvement of the Simaria-Tandwa road in Chatra.Temporary police posts for the upcoming Shravani Mela were also approved.
