Dumka: Letters threatening bomb attacks at the Dumka and Godda district courts prompted police to intensify vigil on Thursday.A purported letter addressed to the District and Sessions Judge of Dumka was sent via speedpost, warning of an attack on the Dumka court premises. The letter, written in Bengali, also contained the names of two individuals and a photocopy of an Aadhaar card.Dumka SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar said, “Police verified the Aadhaar card enclosed with the letter and found that the individual, whose identity was used, had no connection to the threat. A dog squad also conducted a thorough search of the premises, including all sensitive locations. However, no suspicious object or explosive material was found.”“Preliminary investigation revealed the speedpost was dispatched from the Bhatar police station area in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district. We are trying to identify the sender and ascertain the motive behind the threat. Meanwhile, security has been significantly tightened at the Dumka court complex,” he added.A similar letter was addressed to Godda court.
