Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) Saturday demolished two illegal colonies spread over nearly six bighas of private agricultural land in Kanota, preventing unauthorised urbanisation at an early stage.According to JDA enforcement wing deputy inspector general of police Anand Sharma, one colony was being developed on around two bighas in Kanota village on Dudhawala Road near Anand College .“Developers had allegedly levelled the land and laid soil-gravel roads and other basic infrastructure without JDA approval or mandatory land-use conversion. Acting on inputs, the enforcement team, assisted by Zone-24’s revenue and technical staff, used JCB machines and labourers to remove the roads and other illegal works, preventing the colony from being further developed or plots from being sold,” Sharma said.He added that the second operation targeted another illegal colony spread over about four bighas of private agricultural land in the same area .“Soil-gravel roads and an unauthorised layout had been created without JDA approval and without land-use conversion. The JDA squad demolished the illegal works using machines and labourers,” Sharma said. The expenditure incurred on both demolition drives will be recovered from those responsible under the prescribed rules.
