Bhilwara: Rajasthan shuttlers signed off in style by bagging a couple of gold medals on the fifth and final day of the Yonex-Sunrise North Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship which concluded at the Four Arms Academy Hall here on Sunday.Maintaining her dream run, Jaipur teenager Sneha Lamba reigned supreme in the Under-19 girls’ singles, while the Rajasthan U-19 mixed doubles pair of Bhanu Pratap Singh Chouhan and Kavya Swami emerged champions.In an exciting U-19 girls’ singles final, Sneha, after losing the opening game 12-15 against Mehvish Kaur of Punjab, bounced back gallantly to dominate the next two games 15-7, 15-4 and fulfilled Rajasthan’s dream of winning the gold medal.Bhanu Pratap and Kavya Swami also had to struggle for three games to clinch their maiden mixed doubles crown. In the summit clash, they overcame the stiff challenge from Haryana duo of Chaitanya Sehrawat and Ananya 15-13, 11-15, 15-12 to help hosts claim the second gold medal.In the men’s singles final, Jagsher Singh of Punjab edged past Madhurr Dhingra of Delhi 17-15, 6-15, 15-11, while Mehvish Kaur of Punjab prevailed over Delhi’s Diyanka Wadia 15-8, 8-15, 15-5 in the women’s singles final.

In the women’s doubles final, the pair of Nishu Malik and Tanu Malik of Haryana ousted Aanchal and Tanya Khatri of Chandigarh 15-13, 15-7.In the mixed doubles, the pair of Divyansh Rawat and Diyanka Wadia of Delhi emerged victorious after being given a walkover by Ankit Malik and Shivani Santosh of Haryana.Punjab’s Viren Seth pipped Gurtej Singh of Chandigarh 15-11, 14-16, 15-10 in the U-19 boys singles.In the U-19 girls’ doubles, Aadya Tiwari and Shreya Tripathi thumped Punjab’s Sija and Samaira Arora 17-15, 11-15, 15-12 to win the title. In the U-19 boys’ doubles, Punjab’s Viren Seth and Aditya Sharma received a walkover against Haryana’s Parth Gawri and Sparsh Sood.The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Rampal Soni, chairperson and founder of Sangam Group. All the guests present in the ceremony presented medals to the players. The prize distribution programme was presided over by Dr Dharmendra Gupta, chairperson and unit head of Jindal Saw Ltd.
