Chennai: Director-actor Sundar C is all set to make his electoral debut from Madurai Central. He was among the candidates announced by minor partners and AMMK in the AIADMK-led NDA on Saturday for the April 23 assembly election. Sundar C will face DMK minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, who has been renominated from the constituency.AMMK leader T T V Dhinakaran released the list of nominees for 11 constituencies allotted to his party and its poll promises. Most nominees are former MLAs and senior party functionaries. He released the party’s poll promises at the party headquarters and introduced his party candidates. They include C Shanmugavelu (Madathukulam), K Kathir Kaman (Periyakulam), S Kamaraj (Mannargudi), V Karthikeyan (Thiruvaiyaru), Dherpoki V Pandi (Karaikudi), A Gnanasekar (Tirupathur), Esakki Muthu (Nanguneri), R Sundararaj (Ottapidaram-R), Rajasekharan (Trichy West), G Senthamizhan (Saidapet) and T A Elumalai (Poonthamallee-R). Candidates later called on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami to seek his support for candidature in the alliance.Several long-time supporters and former MLAs, including N Parthiban of Sholinghur, however, expressed dissatisfaction over being denied tickets. Airing his discontent, Parthiban on Friday announced he was quitting AMMK. Sundar C has been nominated as the New Justice Party’s candidate for Madurai Central. He will contest on AIADMK’s ‘two leaves’ symbol against Palanivel Thiaga Rajan.
