Gurgaon: After 80 mm of rain on Monday, the city is likely to see another spell of light to moderate rain on Wednesday, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting isolated showers in the district.IMD’s Tuesday afternoon bulletin said light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places in the city. The forecast also covers Mewat, Palwal, Faridabad, Rewari, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Sonipat and several other parts of Haryana.For the days after Wednesday, IMD’s district-wise forecast does not specifically include Gurgaon among the districts expected to receive rain on Aug 27, 28 or 29. However, its broader state forecast indicates that light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in Haryana from Aug 25 to 31. No weather warning has been issued for the state during this period.The forecast comes after a significant spell of rain in the city. In the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Tuesday, Gurgaon AWS recorded 72 mm, while Northcap University AWS recorded 44 mm. The earlier rainfall bulletin also recorded 80 mm at Gurgaon Revenue station, 70 mm at Gurgaon AWS, 40 mm at Manesar and 20 mm at Sohna.The rain also brought down temperatures. Gurgaon AWS recorded a minimum of 23.1°C on Tuesday, the lowest minimum temperature recorded in Haryana. IMD said the state’s average minimum temperature fell by 0.6°C compared with Monday and remained near normal.The weather department attributed the prevailing conditions to the monsoon trough, which was passing through Jammu, Dehradun, Shahjahanpur, Varanasi and the centre of a low-pressure area over Jharkhand and adjoining areas before extending towards the northwest Bay of Bengal. An upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Haryana and adjoining areas had merged with the monsoon trough.While heavy rain and thunderstorms were reported at isolated places in Haryana during the past 24 hours, IMD has not issued any warning for Gurgaon or the state for the coming days.
